Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has joined hands with Meta as the new English voice of Meta AI, expanding her global footprint beyond cinema, News18 reported. The actress announced the news on her official Instagram handle, sharing her excitement about lending her voice to the next generation of AI technology.
"Okay, so this is pretty cool I think! I'm now part of Meta AI and you can chat with my voice in English across India, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Try it and let me know what you think!" she wrote, signing off with a cheerful "Chat soon!" as a nod to the digital avatar fans can now interact with directly.
A voice across six countries
Deepika's collaboration with Meta AI spans six major English-speaking regions: India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. This makes her one of the few global personalities to have her voice integrated into Meta's conversational AI platform.
The move highlights her growing international influence and marks a major step in Meta's effort to personalise user interactions through familiar voices. Her involvement adds a human touch to the AI experience, one that resonates with her millions of admirers worldwide, News18 noted.
Deepika's continued focus on mental health
Just days before this announcement, Deepika achieved another milestone: on 12 October she became the Government of India's first-ever Mental Health Ambassador. Known for her openness about battling depression, she has consistently used her platform to raise awareness around mental well-being.
Speaking about the honour, Deepika said, "My own journey taught me that it is not a sign of weakness to seek help, but a sign of strength."
Why experts applauded the initiative
Experts like Neha Cadabam, Senior Psychologist and Executive Director at Cadabam's Hospitals, applauded the initiative, News18 reported, emphasising that understanding the difference between sadness and depression remains key to addressing stigma in India. Sadness is a normal, passing response to life events. Depression persists for weeks or months and affects sleep, appetite, energy, concentration and the ability to function, and it needs professional care rather than willpower alone.
Support at Cadabam's Hospitals
Deepika's appointment reinforces a simple message: asking for help is a sign of strength. If low mood, hopelessness or loss of interest have lasted more than two weeks and are affecting daily life, Cadabam's Hospitals offers confidential assessment and evidence-based treatment for depression. Our team is here to help.
