Family instability, overwork, sudden shifts in mood, and harassment at the workplace are pushing a growing number of women towards mental health support. That was the central finding of an analysis by Cadabam's Hospitals, reported by Kannada daily Prajavani on 12 October 2026.
What the study looked at
The analysis draws on MindTalk, the AI-based mental health platform built by Cadabam's Hospitals and launched in September 2025. Through its app and web portal, MindTalk has so far facilitated 77,568 consultations. Young people make up the largest share — 31,258 consultations were for people aged 18 to 35.
Seven in ten enquiries came from women
Cadabam's experts found that seven out of every ten people seeking help for emotional distress through the platform were women — roughly 70% of all enquiries.
The numbers point to something clinicians see every day: women are often carrying layered pressures at home and at work, and are increasingly willing to reach out once a private, accessible route to help exists. Recognising early signs of stress in women — and taking them seriously — is what allows support to begin before distress becomes a crisis.
Concerns change with age
The study also confirmed that the nature of mental health concerns shifts across life stages:
- Ages 18–25: most enquiries related to attention difficulties and hyperactivity.
- Ages 26–35: concerns were dominated by addiction-related mental health problems.
- Overall, 20.9% of enquiries were linked to addiction.
Accessible, private, and professional
"People need different ways to seek help, depending on the problem they are facing and their situation at that moment," Sandesh Cadabam, Director at Cadabam's Hospitals, told the publication. "When technology is built on clinical expertise, it brings about meaningful change. MindTalk brings technology and mental health services together, helping people understand their problems, take the first step towards help, and move towards the right professional support."
Beyond self-help tools and self-assessment, MindTalk offers online consultations with psychiatric experts for depression, anxiety, stress, and other concerns, along with articles and audio content on mental health — many of these services free of charge.

Neha Cadabam, Senior Psychologist and Executive Director at Cadabam's Hospitals, underlined the principle behind the platform: "Mental health concerns need to be identified, and people must be supported in managing them. These services should be easily accessible while ensuring that every individual's privacy is protected."
