So what is stress? Is it really harmful as we assume it to be? Can stress be helpful?
Stress is a feeling that people have when they are overloaded and struggling to cope with demands. Stress by itself is not harmful, but our reactions to the stressors can be harmful depending on how you react. How we react to a difficult situation will affect how stress affects us and our health.Sometime we get stressed out because of too many stressor to deal with all at once.
Yes some stress is helpful to mankind, it helps us to prepare for fight or flight situations and for the future, however if we fail to manage stress, or fail cope with it, then it might cause anxiety and lot of health issues.
It is important to cope and manage your stress for a healthy life. Then how do you do that???
Mindfulness, this is something which is heard more often in today’s stressful life.

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
E.g. when you eat paying attention to minute detail about what you eat and while walking being in touch with the your steps and experiencing the surrounding.
Mindfulness helps you learn to calm your mind and body to help you cope with illness, pain, and stress.
Mindfulness meditation involves sitting silently and paying attention to thoughts, sounds, breath or to parts of the body. The difficult part of mindfulness is to bring back the attention and focus to present moment whenever your mind starts wandering.
So how will this help in managing stress???
Stress isn’t just a feeling or a mental state; if you don’t address it, it seeps into every aspect of your life.
Mindfulness techniques like meditation, and deep breathing activate the body’s relaxation response, it helps you calm your mind and body, a state which is the opposite of the fight or flight or mobilization stress response. As you learn and practice these techniques, your stress levels will decrease gradually and can stay healthier.
Mindfulness not only reduces stress but also gently builds an inner strength so that stress in personal life will not come in a way of your professional life or your work stress will not come in a way of your relationships.
